Moving from Alaska to San Diego is no easy feat! These two came to San Diego last Summer from Alaska and realized after a spell that they didn't have a lot of pictures of them actually in San Diego! Despite it being about 55 degrees, these two were determined to take a photo that really showed that they were in San Diego. These two were another couple that took me up on my offer of a free photoshoot through the buy nothing project, again another couple who lives in my area, and I loved it! I've already scoped out the places that I like, but Lucienne came up with the shot out front with the water and I was so happy I could provide that for her. I love the way that they styled themselves. She wore minimal makeup and his hair was just the right amount of slicked back and naturally disheveled, their outfits paired great! They weren't necessarily the same color, or color scheme, but the contrast and brightness with the white pants were *kisses hand* perfection. It was a pleasure to take their photos and give them a chance to get that ~San Diego~ vibe.

to build a portfolioIn San Diego, we have a cool project (that I believe is nationwide) called the "buy nothing project". What's cool about this is that it's a space for people who live in the same community to reach out for things they need, or to offer things that they have, free of charge. The idea is to prevent people from buying more than they need, to keep items in the ecosystem, and to create that neighborly feel and exchange that is so often lacking in communities these days. I've offered a few things before and received a few things before, but when I was trying to build my portfolio back up, I realized I could offer something less tangible. I reached out to the group to see if anyone wanted to have their pictures taken and Becca and Trin jumped at the opportunity! Becca and Trin were the first mother-daughter pair that I've photographed and I loved trying to catch their dynamic. Trin was amazing and hilarious to take pictures of. She was in her tween years and you could tell she really still wanted to be childish and fun, but was also trying to be more grown up. I loved catching both sides of her. I was lucky enough that this was in my neighborhood, literally right in my backyard, so I didn't really have to travel far. I love how happy they are and how fun these shots turned out! I look forward to taking more photos of kids and families! |
